G-8 Not To Decide IMF Succession-German Govt

German Chancellor Angela Merkel present her view in BERLIN on IMF- Government leaders during a summit of the Group of Eight leading nations later this week are likely to discuss the succession of the post of managing director of the International Monetary Fund, but won't make any decision about the succession, a German government official said.

"The G-8 summit is not the right forum to choose the managing director," the official said, adding that the meeting doesn't include some of the countries needed to determine the succession.

G-8 government leaders meet in Deauville, France, Thursday and Friday.
